Crafty Fun

Oh my!  I went to several garage sales this morning, and I found several really nice larger frames for a buck a piece, a cute basket for in my bedroom (not sure what I am going to put in it yet!), and an outdoor-decor-pale-flower pot thing (I'll show you, it's hard to explain).  Then, I went to buy my supplies for my key holder/sign, and I was off to work (okay, more like off to fun!).

Frame converted into Magnetic White Board

I spray painted this frame white, put a yellow stationary paper in it, and wrote "To-Do" in sharpie on the glass.  I used a hot glue gun to add some magnets and "Voila!"  I like it--especially the way the frame's curves mirror those in my cabinets.  Sorry for the graininess... these photos were taken with my camera phone.

Outdoor-decor-pale-flower-pot thing

I want to spray paint this, put fake plants in it and hang it by my front door... all in time...

The basket for my bedroom
Any ideas on what I should put in this?  I don't know, but I want to put it on top of my dresser (there isn't anything on it right now).

Finally, the Key Holder
So, I did this just exactly as I planned and described yesterday.  I traced the name on in pencil and then filled it in with a sharpie rather than painting.  I am not skilled enough with a paintbrush to stay in those kind of linesI used this "Home" sign that I received as a gift several years ago for the inspiration and the color scheme.
Okay, that's all for Saturday.  Hope you have a good weekend.

Foto Friday

So, this weekend, I have many big plans! I plan to craft, organize, and bake. Instead of just telling you about my project plans, I decided to show you my photo inspiration.

Step 1: CRAFT
Wooden plaque with hooks

I have REALLY been wanting to get a place to hang my keys near our door. I am going to buy a 16" x 4" routered plaque. First, I am going to paint it a golden yellow. Then, I am going to stencil a cute pattern in metallic gold and paint the routered border black.  Finally, I am going to write our name "Fine" in black script on top of the stenciled background. With the cheap black hooks I found at Lowe's, it should only cost 7 bucks altogether. Sound good? I hope it turns out as fabulous as it looks in my head! If it does, expect photos soon.

Step 2: ORGANIZE

Utility Closet Organization

My utility closet is already pretty organized with hooks for my broom and mop, but I want more. I hate having to look for a hammer, tape measure, flashlight, etc.

Step 3: BAKE

Oatmeal Chip Cookies

Allrecipes.com 5-star rated Oatmeal chip cookies. My good friend L and I are getting together Sunday to bake cookies. We each are bringing a recipe. I'll let you know how mine and L's recipe turn out. Mmmm....

A Fine Gal... Someday

I am a gal, teacher, daughter, and wife, but I am certainly not fine at it yet. I would like to be fabulous at my life and all the different roles I fill, but as most of you know, that is a classic example of "easier said than done." That being said, I still keep trying to be a better teacher, better daughter, better wife, better follower of Christ... just better. The way I see it if I get a little better each year, maybe by the time my life is said and done I will have turned out okay in the end.

Because my husband and I recently moved and my new job as a teacher allows me more time at home, I mostly have cooking, crafting, and decorating on the mind. I am pretty obsessed with pinterest right now, too, so I will probably split my internet time between here and there.
